Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 19, 2024

Welcome to SwipeWatch! Before you start swiping through our cinematic universe, please take a moment to read through our terms and conditions. It's like the opening credits – not the most exciting part, but important context for the story ahead.

1. The Agreement

By accessing or using SwipeWatch (the "Service"), you're agreeing to these Terms & Conditions. Think of it as the ticket you need to enter our movie theater. If you don't agree with these terms, we're sorry to say you can't use our service – like trying to sneak into a movie without a ticket.

2. Service Description

SwipeWatch is an entertainment and content discovery platform. We help you find movies and TV shows you might enjoy, but we don't host, create, or distribute any of the content ourselves. We're the usher pointing you to the right theater, not the studio making the film.

The information about movies and TV shows comes from third-party APIs and databases. While we strive for accuracy, we can't guarantee that all information is 100% correct or up-to-date. Sometimes our sources might be running on a different script than we are.

3. User Accounts & Guest Mode

You can use SwipeWatch as a registered user or in guest mode. If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your password – not even with your best friend who swears they'll pay for the next movie night.

When using guest mode, your swipes and preferences are stored either locally on your device or temporarily with a unique anonymous identifier. Think of it as leaving your popcorn preferences with the concession stand without giving them your name.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use SwipeWatch to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated methods to access our content
  • Interfere with the proper working of the service
  • Attempt to bypass any security measures
  • Impersonate others or provide inaccurate information

If you decide to go full villain and break these rules, we may have to revoke your VIP pass (terminate your account) without warning. And unlike in the movies, there's no post-credits scene where you get to come back.

5. Intellectual Property

The SwipeWatch service, including its logo, design, and functionality, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You can use our service, but you can't claim it as your own – that would be like taking credit for directing a film you merely watched.

Movie and TV show information, images, and related content may be subject to copyright and other protections owned by third parties. We display this content under fair use or with appropriate licenses.

6. Limitation of Liability

SwipeWatch is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We're not responsible for any damages that might arise from your use of our service. This includes (but isn't limited to):

  • Disappointment in a movie we recommended (even if the trailer looked amazing)
  • Time lost scrolling through options instead of actually watching something
  • Arguments with friends about what to watch next
  • Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Our maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, which for our free service is exactly $0. That's less than the cost of a single kernel of movie theater popcorn.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SwipeWatch harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms. In plain English: if you cause problems, you're responsible for them – don't try to make us the villain in your story.

8. Changes & Termination

We may modify these terms at any time by posting updates on this page. Continued use of SwipeWatch after changes means you accept the new terms. We'll try to notify you of significant changes, but it's a good idea to check back occasionally – like watching for sequel announcements to your favorite films.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to SwipeWatch at any time, for any reason, without notice. It's like having the power to roll the credits early, but we promise to only use it when necessary.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of [Your Jurisdiction]. Think of it as choosing which theater gets to host our premiere.

10. Contact Us

If you have any questions about these Terms & Conditions, please contact us at legal@swipewatch.com. We're always happy to explain the plot if you got lost along the way.

By using SwipeWatch, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Now, grab your popcorn and enjoy the show!
